Ever since Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, launched its new social media app, Threads, we have been wondering when ads would make their debut. Well, it seems that time is finally near.
We’ve been wondering when advertisements might appear ever since Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, released Threads, a new social networking app. It appears like the time is finally approaching.
According to a recent study (subscription needed), Meta may begin distributing advertisements on Threads as early as the following year. According to reports, the plan calls for a limited number of marketers to start producing and releasing advertisements in January. Instagram’s advertising team is reportedly spearheading this effort.
Although the precise appearance of advertisements on Threads is yet unknown, reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi recently observed that they may appear as “sponsored” messages.

When Threads launched in July of last year, it positioned itself as a rival to X (previously Twitter) in an attempt to lure users away from the platform amid Elon Musk’s contentious takeover of it.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced last month that the app had already reached 275 million monthly active users, more than a year later, demonstrating its explosive growth. And I believe that this may be the main cause of the company’s plans to soon begin making money off of the app.
Additionally, it shouldn’t be shocking to see advertisements on Threads, especially given Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri alluded to it in a post on Threads.
In other app-related news, Threads has added a feature called “Activity Status” that allows you to check when someone is online. In addition, Meta is testing a feature that lets users publish Instagram Reels straight on Threads and is striving to make all of its applications run more smoothly.
