High US states Individuals shifting to dominated by the South

There is a southern migration within the U.S. right now, not due to the climate.

The Nationwide Affiliation of Realtors’ 2024 Migration Developments report launched this week reveals Southern states dominated in attracting the most individuals to maneuver inside their borders in the initial 12 months, and only one one of those that moved mentioned they did so due to climate-related causes in keeping with its evaluation of U.S. Census Bureau information.

The research discovered that 42% of the Individuals who moved to a particular state for the last 12 months cited housing reasons, 26% did so for household reasons, and 16% jumped borders for employment reasons. Solely 2% mentioned they moved as a consequence of return-to-office insurance policies.

3. North Carolina – 126,712 web migration

Tennessee got here at No. 6 with a web migration of greater than 76,000, adopted by Arizona (57,814), Alabama (36,128,) and Oklahoma (31,967). Ohio rounded out the highest ten and was the one state north of the Mason-Dixon Line to land after drawing a web migration of 28,718.

In 2023, Hawaii (-4,261), Illinois (-32,826), Louisiana (-14,274), New York (-101,984), Oregon (-6,021), Pennsylvania (-10,408), and West Virginia (-3,964) additionally all noticed their populations fall.
