Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cupboard approves proposal to sanction the nation’s oldest newspaper.

Israel’s cupboard has permitted a proposal to chop all authority’s hyperlinks with Haaretz – a transfer that would cripple the 105-year-old newspaper financially and drive it to close down.

Haaretz has condemned the motion, describing it as “one other step in [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s journey to dismantle Israeli democracy”.
